Week Twelve - Mixed Media

Mixed media (the use of two or more forms of media on a single work) is a wonderful technique used by some of the best illustrators in the field to create pleasing, eye-catching and dramatic artwork.

This week’s challenge was to have the students create a school of fish using mixed media. The media could be paints, markers, colored pencils, or colored paper.

Normally, I try to give students the freedom to draw or paint what they want. But this time, I wanted them to focus on composition, what media they wanted to use, and how they were going to use it. (Besides, I think parents need a break from more Pikachu and rainbow unicorns).
