How Multiple Quantity Automatic Renewal Listings Work on Etsy

When selling a product on Etsy, you can choose whether to have your listing renew AUTOMATICALLY or MANUALLY if it does not sell out within four (4) months.

If you set your listing to “AUTOMATIC” renewal and you are selling MORE THAN ONE quantity of that product (i.e. 50 bracelets or 5 wood ornaments), then the listing will automatically renew for four months EACH TIME you make a sale (see diagram below).

Additionally, each time the listing renews, your Etsy account is charged a $0.20 listing fee.

At first, I thought the renewal date remained four months out from the original listing date:

Once I learned my assumption was incorrect, I looked for answers in Etsy’s Help forums. There I discovered that other sellers were confused as well.

And even after reviewing Etsy’s article on renewal options, it took a while for me to figure out how the actual process works (I’m more of a visual learner).

I hope this explanation, together with diagrams, was helpful.

Happy selling!
